About Me

Ria Crosbie Handmade CardsI started painting a couple of years after my son started school. I was not in full time work, although I did voluntary work in a Preschool Nursery. I was beginning to find I had a little more time on my hands, so after a few evening classes in curtain making and taking up cross stitch, I felt I’d like to try something a bit more challenging.

I bought myself some acrylic paints and started to play. My acrylic painting is self taught, and it wasn’t long until I fancied learning the art of watercolour.  Myself and my sister joined a small watercolour class and the rest is history. I mainly paint in watercolour now although I have started to dabble in oils, this is a slow process but some of my work has turned out quite pleasing.  My preference is to paint nature, I especially love autumn and all the colours that go with it. I also like to paint in monochrome, using the same colour in varying degrees of strength and depth.

We have now moved into a rural village in West Suffolk where I find most of my inspiration.  My work can range from busy pictures to quite plain and simple.  I occasionally paint abstract, patterns and shapes. It all depends on my mood at the time.  After gathering quite a collection of paintings and drawings my sister suggested I try using my art work for greeting cards and…… here I am!  I have been producing cards for 3 years now and thoroughly enjoy sitting down to create something new to add to the varied choice I have on offer.
